Something For Canada Day...

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.

With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!

From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

Many people don't know that the Canadian National Anthem was originally a poem that was written in a hymn structure. Here's an older version from 1880. Interesting, no?

O Canada! Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North, strong and free!
And stand on guard, O Canada,
We stand on guard for thee.

Refrain
O Canada, glorious and free!
We stand on guard, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee!

O Canada! Where pines and maples grow.
Great prairies spread and lordly rivers flow.
How dear to us thy broad domain,
From East to Western Sea,
Thou land of hope for all who toil!
Thou True North, strong and free!

Refrain

O Canada! Beneth thy shining skies
May stalwart sons and gentle maidens rise,
To keep thee steadfast through the years
From East to Western Sea,
Our own beloved native land!
Our True North, strong and free!

Refrain

Ruler supreme, who hearest humble prayer,
Hold our dominion whithin thy loving care;
Help us to find, O God, in thee
A lasting, rich reward,
As waiting for the Better Day,
We ever stand on guard.

I want to sing all 4 stanzas when we sing the national anthem, but keep the first verse as it is. Here's my proposed national anthem:

O Canada! Where pines and maples grow.
Great prairies spread and lordly rivers flow.
How dear to us thy broad domain,
From East to Western Sea,
Thou land of hope for all who toil!
Thou True North, strong and free!

Refrain

O Canada! Beneth thy shining skies
May stalwart sons and gentle maidens rise,
To keep thee steadfast through the years
From East to Western Sea,
Our own beloved native land!
Our True North, strong and free!

Refrain

Ruler supreme, who hearest humble prayer,
Hold our dominion whithin thy loving care;
Help us to find, O God, in thee
A lasting, rich reward,
As waiting for the Better Day,
We ever stand on guard.

****

I wish we'd still sing the 4th stanza, but it's far too offensive. Maybe when my roomie becomes the dictator of Sweden, he can strongarm NATO and the UN to make Canada change the anthem to my proposed version; same first verse with the added other 3 stanzas! Here's hoping!

God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

...If only we actually meant that.

Until Next Time,

i think you would find this disturbing, if you are unaware this exists. but i am sure you have long since seen this.

I went there and at the bottom of the page, I saw this explanation of their "Rapture Index":

Rapture Index of 85 and Below: Slow prophetic activity
Rapture Index of 85 to 110: Moderate prophetic activity
Rapture Index of 110 to 145: Heavy prophetic activity
Rapture Index above 145: Fasten your seat belts

***
Now WHY would I want a seatbelt? AS IF I want to stay behind when Gabriel does his Dizzie Gillespie impression?

"Oh Crap! It's the Rapture! We're being taken from this earth to be spared the tribulation! Quick, grab onto something!"

I'm not wearing no seatbelt when the rapture comes. I DO hope I'm in the shower though...wouldn't that be sweet to have your last deed on earth be mooning half the city on the way up? That would rule.

why would you hope that and why would that rule? ephesians 5: 3: 'But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people.'
yeah i know you're just joking: ...verse 4: Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.

maybe its funny but why we [and i say we for a reason] find it so funny, i don't know.

i'm no scholar but i bet that's in all 25000 of those copies...

Well, if we base our understandings of the rapture on all the Christian movies, we'll ALL be naked. Every rapture movie has piles of clothes on the ground.

The whole "I want to be in the shower" isn't true. It's the stupidest thing I could think off. Not necessarily trying to be funny, but more being stupid.

In reality, we won't be flying into the sky and I won't have the possibility of mooning people. From what I understand of the scripture, we'll be transfered from 'here' to 'there' instantly.

Q: Was I being sexually immoral, or obscene or participating in coarse joking?

I mean, part of me wants to point fingers and whatnot, but a larger part of me also understands the call to high standards of righteousness. Thanks for the call to account. Whether needed or not, it's welcome.
